Internet access with your iPad SIM
To use the internet with your iPad, you need the correct carrier settings. After your arrival in Australia, with your SIM card in, these are usually updated automatically. However, sometimes this does not happen. If you are able to make calls and send texts, but have no access to the internet, a problem with your carrier settings might be the reason. In this case, read the following instructions on how to set up your device manually.
Internet settings for iPad
First, check in Settings if cellular data is turned on (Settings > Cellular Data > "ON"). If it says "OFF", switch it on and check if the internet is working now.
If this was not the problem, connect your iPad to iTunes next. This will show an update for carrier settings in case there is one. Otherwise you need a computer and the free iPhone Configuration Utility software, which can be downloaded for Mac or Windows here: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise. After successfully installing the program, connect your device to the computer, abort a starting synchronisation and start the iPhone Configuration Utility. Click on “Configuration Profiles” (4th menu item on the left side) and then click on the "NEW" symbol in the upper left corner to create a new profile. For the name, enter "MojoKnows“, for identifier "au.com.mojoknows“, for organisation "MojoKnows“ and as description "Test Profile“ (see picture).

Next, click on “APN” in the menu down to the left. Enter "telstra.iph" for the Access Point Name, the other fields remain as they are.

This done, install the new profile on the device. Select your iPad in the menu on the left under "Devices" and select the tab "Configuration Profiles“ in the menu above. The new profile named "MojoKnows" appears as well as an install button.

Click on the button and you get a notification on your device. Confirm the question whether to install the profile with "Yes". Then, set your device to flight mode (Settings > Flight Mode > "ON"). This sets the connection to the carrier back. Switch the flight mode back to "OFF" - your internet should work now!
