- Tethering is possible, i.e. you can create a mobile hotspot from your Smartphone and then access the Internet via a Laptop. If your smartphone shows an error saying Contact OPTUS when you try to do that, send a text with the word tether to 568, wait 10 minutes, then restart your phone.
- If you're using this offer and have no active data pack but do have normal phone/sms credits, any usage of the Internet will reduce your phone/sms credit by $0.154/MB and will therefore quickly reduce it to 0. It is therefore important to make sure that you have an active and non-empty data pack before accessing the Internet.

You can add a new data pack (or a combo that included data) at any time, as long as you follow these basic rules:
- If you are on a pure data plan (i.e. NOT a combo) then you can always add a bigger plan at any time. If you want to go back to a smaller plan or the same plan again you can do that, but only once the old one has expired. You can also always switch from a data plan to a combo at any time.
- If you are on a combo you can always get a bigger combo straight away; if you want a smaller one or the same one again, or if you want to downgrade to a data plan then you have to wait until your current plan expires.
- Whenever you change your plan or renew an existing one any remaining credit expires.
- If your trip is longer than the validity of your initial credit you can add extra credit - even from home. Simply let us know when you would like us to add the extra credit and we will do it for you. You can do this as soon as we have shipped your order, which is anywhere from 8 to 2 weeks prior to your departure for Australia. Simply log into your MojoKnows account and request the topup there.
- Most smartphones work out of the box when your arrive, but should you have problems accessing the Internet when you arrive pls. have a look at this tutorial on how to fix potential issues.
- Network Coverage
- Very good coverage on the eastern Seaboard using the 3G/4G Optus Network (reaching 96% of the population). The coverage is also good in Perth, Darwin & Alice Springs - see here for details.
- Please note that if you spend the majority of your time in the Northern Territory, the outback, or the countryside of Western Australia, South Australia or Tasmania, you will generally get better coverage with one of our premium packages, i.e. the SmartphonePlus or the AnywherePlus.

When do we recommend the Working Holiday Pack?
The target group of our Working Holiday Package are backpacker which need to have a TFN for working in Australia and also want to have SIM card with cheap text and connection charges. It's most suitable for working holiday makers that want to receive their Tax File Number conveniently via Email/Text Message and want the flexibility of apply for their tax file number at any point in time prior to their arrival in Australia.
We will activate the SIM card for you, usually within 2 hours of you arrival, so that you can start using it straight away - however keep in mind that there is no initial credit included, so you need to add some credit before you arrive in order to be able to use this SIM Card.
If you want to avoid this hassle, you can always use one of our full service SIM Packages where you will get a fully activated and already recharged SIM card which is ready to use after you get out of the plane - and you can order the Tax File Number service separately with all other SIM Packs as well.
Just a note that with this entry level offer you are managing your SIM card, recharge vouchers & your data packs yourself via the online account of the Australien Mobile provider. Does my mobile phone work in Australia?
Australia generally uses the standard 900 and 1800 MHz GSM network - which means if you are from anywhere in the world except the Americas
your phone will work fine. If you are from a country in the America's you should check the specification of your mobile -
most modern mobile phones can handle multiple frequencies - for Australia you need GSM 900 and 2100 MHz for 3G (fast data).
The second thing you should check is that your mobile is not locked to your provider's network - this can happen if you
purchased your mobile phone in a bundle with a SIM Card, or got it subsidised with a mobile contract. In either case you
should check with your mobile network provider at home whether you can use a prepaid SIM card from a different provider in your phone or, if not,
if they can remove that network lock for you. In most cases that is possible either for free (if you had your phone for a certain amount of time)
or for a fee.

Samsung Region Locking
Since 2013 Samsung is shipping new smartphones that are sold in the European Union with a new type of Region Lock (also called EU-Lock) - in practice this means that you need to use such a phone with a local, European SIM, for a phone call that lasts at least 5 minutes first, before you can take it overseas. This is in addition to the general "SIM Lock" mechanism described above.
